Second Weeks in Uni

Hello! I’m back again. Hardly for me to get internet here. They do provide wifi service mostly everywhere in the uni but the signal is just so low especially for my block of hostel. My room is so far from the router and that’s why I can’t access internet in my room. Luckily Dad sign me data for my phone. At least still can update myself through facebook and instagram. So fed up with the line here. Even broadband also hardly to access internet! WTF?!

Classes already started during my second weeks in uni. We arranged the timetable all by ourselves based on our convenient. We need to register all the courses that we take during this semester online. We need to be fast so that we can grab the limited places. We should actually take 19 credit hours each semester but can maximize it to 22 credit hours. I tried my best to grab the maximum credit hours for this semester so that later on I can focus more on my core courses but too bad many courses priority are for the second year student’s. I just managed to grab 17 credit hours for this semester. So sad! But the way a big thanks for my friend – Jentin! She helped me a lot for these courses online registration. She also came from Kuantan but before this we don’t know each other until we came here and took the same courses. She is so helpful and this semester I had all the same classes with her. Phew! At least get 1 partner and I won’t feel so lonely.

Mostly of my lecturer are Malay’s except for my Business Communication 1 lecturer was ang mo. He came from USA. Luckily his accent was not that strong. I still manage to understand what he try to say. Hopefully all the lecturers will be good to us for this coming 3 months!

First week lecture was not heavy. Lecturer just came in the class and introduce themselves and do some introduction about the courses we took. Wao! All of my core courses lecturer came back from overseas. London, Japan and Australia. Besides that we even divided to groups for our assignment project. We are lucky because we can choose our group members ourselves. I'm in the same group with Jentin and another course friend, Chung Zai. The other group members are approximately same. Will introduce them later when we start our project works.

I went to The Spring shopping mall, which is the most high class shopping mall in Kuching so far with Cheryl that Wednesday. Both of us don't have class on that afternoon, so we decide to go to the mall to have a walk. She has a car here so it is more convenient. She came to my hostel to fetch me. We had our lunch at Sushi King. Owh, I miss those foods! Hardly for me to get Japanese food in uni. After lunch we just hang around the mall. The Spring is smaller than ECM but the things selling there is more branded. Bought some grocery before we left the mall.

Besides that another highlight of my second weeks in Uni was my Faculty Orientation. We had our faculty orientation for 3 days. It started at Friday night. We had ice-breaking that night. We were divided randomly. Oh no! I'm not in the same group with Jentin or Chung Zai. I'm alone! We learn Oppa Gangnam Style too that night. We had our PERFEP (Persatuan Fakulty Ekonomi dan Perniagaan) AGM.


On Saturday, We need to get up early for the station games. We were given 5 station to complete. We need to complete all the 5 station under hot sun! Oh yea, Sarawak is extremely hot! The Sun can killing me! I need an umbrella whenever i walk inside the uni or hostel! After the games I start feeling not well. Afternoon we were practicing the Oppa Gangnam Style. Night we celebrating Malam Beraya. We had some simple dinner and some performance.

The next morning my group member gather to practice for the show that we need to perform that night. I'm sick so I skip that practice. In the afternoon we were asked to gather again for the rehearsal for the FEB Got Talent that held that night. My group was group 16 and was the 9th group the performing. My group member performing few dances that include Chinese dance, Iban dance and Malay dance. I didn't join anyone because I'm not feeling well. Me and the other 2 girls of my group didn't join the performance. When almost our turn to perform, we were asked to prepare at the backstage. 3 of us suddenly feel like joining them at the stage. It was a kind of weirdo if we didn't join so last minutes we joined them. With just 5 minutes practicing, we just went up to the stage to perform. Luckily is just some simple steps! Jentin group won the champion. Everyone enjoyed a lot that night although everyone was tired.

Well that's all about my second weeks in uni. Uni life start! GoGoGo! 

Orientation Week

Hi everybody! Finally I got time and internet to update my blog about my Uni orientation week. Finally settle everything and my uni life started just like that.

Well this will be a super long post! =D!

Last week was my first week in my uni, Unimas. My orientation week was about  5 days. Before this, many senior told us we will be very tired and suffering during orientation week. All of us was so scare about it. But now we overcome it! Here come something about my orientation week. This will be a super long post!

Sunday (2nd of September)
After parents drop me to my hostel, I unpacked my things. We had to gather at 6.30pm. I had no friends so followed my roommates all the night. Our senior that incharged of us which we named them Liasion Officeer (LO) teached us some cheering and refreshment. I feel that cheering and refreshment was so stupid and childish. Don’t feel like shouting it actually. After that they divided us into groups and having some activities among each others. Well, still didn’t knew any new friends yet that night and I felt so lonely. Our activities end around 11pm and we had to gather at 5.30am the next morning. Oh, this is so bad! Although we given to go back the room at 11pm but we still need to line up for bathing and wash clothes. After cleaning everything is already 12.30am and I quickly went to bed so that the next morning I can wake up. The end of my first night at the hostel.

Monday (3rd of September)
The most sucks day during my orientation week! Woke up at 5.15am and quickly get myself ready. Gather at the dataran and we were asked to do some refreshment. After that we were asked to line up to walk to the hall (Detar Putra). After lining up they only gave us our breakfast. We were only given 7 minutes to finish our breakfast and guess what we had to sit on the road side to have our breakfast! The foods was tasteless! We ate nasi goreng , telur rebus and packet drinks. After finishing our breakfast, we need to walked to the hall. The journey was about 20 minutes.
After all the new students entering the hall, then we started with taklimat. It was so boring. I slept and read novel to kill the boringness. I was so lonely and had no friends. Sitting alone. Not even with my room mates. Keep texting with Cheryl, Stephanie and Jian Hao so that I feel much better. We had almost 5 meals that day include high tea. So full and so sleepy.
At night we continue our hostel activities in the hall. Again we were doing those cheers and refreshment. They taught us banana songs, apple songs, lai chi kang songs and etc. Oh, so sien! Around 11pm our activities only end. We still need to walk 20 minutes more to our hostel. After cleaning and washing my clothes, is already 12am. We need to gather again at 6am the next morning. Another tiring day.

Tuesday (4th of September)
This day is the day we gonna spend with our own faculty. Mine is Faculty Economics and Business (FEB). This day was much better compared to the previous day! And glad I found my friends this day. We were also divided according or courses. My course is marketing.
I had better breakfast this day. I ate sandwich and given more time to eat. After breakfast we had to walk again to the hall. So tired and everyday just keep walking and walking and walking. Arriving to the hall. While waiting for the others, we were allowed to rest and the side. I met Kah Yeik, Kuantan kia! So happy met someone I knew. And after awhile the same place I met Tien Sern and Cheryl! Finally I met her, miss her so much. >.<! Sounds gay?! Haha!
We were then divided according our own courses. I saw a girl that looks alike Jentin. Another Kuantan kia and from facebook I knew this girl had the same courses as mine but we don’t know each other although from Kuantan because we didn’t meet before in Kuantan. Before coming here, Stephanie and Wei Kei told me this girl very friendly and they asked me not to worried to friend with her. She will deffinetly a super nice girl.
I approached her and stand beside her. Took a deep breath and I asked her : “Are you Jentin?” She looked at me and say yes. Then I quickly introduce myself and told her I’m from Kuantan too. Then she started to asked my name and talked to me. She told me she hardly remember peoples name but she said mine is easy to remember. Within 5 minutes we chat a lot. Phew! She really very nice! We had our taklimat about our faculty. I found that she also liked to read novel using smart phone. While the talk, both of us was busying reading novel. HAHA! We spoted international students sitting at the front row. We spotted one Korean guy sitting in front and from our side he looked quite ok. After the talk, we were opened for one Q&A session. Jentin asked me whether want to go in front to have a looked on the Korean guy and so coincidence we had question to asked the professor about the course we need to take. Walked to the front and saw the Korean guy was sleeping. Gosh, he was sitting at the front row and sleeping there. Nice one! xD! But too bad the Korean guy was okok looking only. The typical Korean. But we saw one cute Korean girl. Looks like chipmunks. So cute! Haha!
After lunch we went into the hall while waiting for others. Here I met another same courses friends. She recognize me! She was the one I added in facebook because we were same courses. She is so tiny and her name is Jenny Lee. Yes! I finally found new friends! We were actually given some task to complete before the end of the orientation week. We need to get signatures from those LO. They wanted us to do some refreshment so that we only can get their signatures. By this way we can recognize our senior.
After some talk, we were bring to our faculty for our registration to the faculty. Night we were going back to the hall to continue our hostel activities. Oh yea, I met another 2 new friends. They are Iris and Janet. Again, we were taught by those LO for other new refreshment. And today I found that those refreshment was actually very fun! Enjoyed it.
Again we left the hall around 11.30pm. I’m so happy I found my new friends.

Wednesday (5th of September)
Again we waken up at 5.00am. We asked to do some exercise that morning. We dance Xi Shua Shua and Oppa Gangnam Style that morning. After exercise we asked to change into formal attire then we need to head to the hall again to continue with our next taklimat. Sleep again in the hall. The hall is so hot. Imagine we were sitting inside a huge hall with almost 4k of students with so call no air-cond condition. Freaking hot and even someone fainted inside the hall while singing Unimas Song. Another day with taklimats and refreshment.

Thursday(6th of September)
We got our rehersal of Majlis Ikrar Pelajar for tomorrow. We ate KFC as our lunch. This was the most yummy lunch we get among that week but that KFC was the most geli KFC I ate before because the KFC macam just took out from the fridge. Everything was cold even the mashed potatoes! Oh no!
At night we had public speaking and debates competition. The international students even joined us the public speaking competition. The cute Korean girl representative the international students. Although she didn’t speak well in English but claps for the courage! After that we had our own hostel practice for tomorrow cheering competition. All of us want to win it badly. We practice very hard that night.

Friday(7th of September)
Last day of our orientation! Hooray! Seniors told us those students that not with BLACK hairs and not in formal attire are not allowed to enter the hall for the ceremony. One of my beloved friends was so scare that she can’t enter the hall for the ceremony so she ask around the hostel malay girls for lending her the white tudung so she can wear it to enter the hall. She really wore it while on our way to enter the hall. All of us laugh like mad! We never thought that she will wore it! Serious she looks alike the malay..xD! But too bad we scam by those seniors! They didn’t checked!
Well, the ceremony held smoothly. After that we were allowed to go back to our hostel for the preparation for the competition at night.
Backed to the hall around 6pm. The competition started with culture competition. by each college. The culture competition is a kinda boring. After that the highlights of the night reached! Cheering competition which we waited so long! We did our best and cheers it the loudest we can! Although we lose the cheering competition, debate competition, culture competition and even the public speaking competition but we won the champion of overall during the orientation week! We were so happy! Although we were so tired but this really do cheer us after torturing for the past 5 days!
My uni orientation weeks and which means I gonna start my uni life very soon! Although orientation weeks was so tired because we don’t have enough sleep but I do enjoy it so much! It was out of my expectation. At first I though orientation weeks was so torturing but I was wrong! Hmm.. overall orientation week is just a bit tired because we had lack of sleep but I do enjoyed it!

Well, I think I should just end my orientation post here. Oh my! I'm so long gas~ xP

Registration of University

Phew finally is some time for me to rest. Just done settle everything.

I had register to my university this morning. Dad friends came and pick us up to the university around 9.30am. Along to the way to the university, I saw 3 big roundabout. The roundabout here is freaking big. As big as a football field.

Reach my uni, Unimas. The signboard there is also super small and we almost lost our way to my hostel. They should make bigger signboard la. You expect peoples walking down from the car to see your signboard then only go up to the car to continue their journey?

One word to describe the university - HUGE! The university is so big. From the map, Cheryl's hostel is just beside mine but the actual wasn't like that. Although our hostel is just beside but is super far lorh! How am I gonna meet up here next time? T_______T

After that is the time for me to register. Long queue and the number i get was 242. Wait and wait. Luckily there got wifi and I able to online for awhile. Meet a girl lining up behind me. She told me she was so scare and ask me to be her room mate but according to the senior's, room mate already arrange by computer. 

I don't know is coincidence or what. She really is my room mate. O.o...She came from Sibu. Whole kampung following her there. I guess this is her first time coming out. After settle for those registration is time for me to go to have a look with my hostel.

Oh no! My hostel is a bit inner part but luckily I get first floor. Don't need to climb so much stair. Wakakkaka! xD!
Opened my room, OH MY GOD~ Is not a double bedroom, is a TRIPLE bedroom! The most sad is I'm late and the only bed left is the double decker up side bed. Oh no! I have to climb to the bed EVERYDAY! This is so mafan la.. Ruined my mood ! While half-way cleaning up my room, my another room mate came in. Wao, is a pretty girl. She came from Perak. After cleaning up my room, is time for me to leave. Will be going back there tomorrow night. And my life of university begin.

Hopefully my orientation week will be a nice and memorable week. Here come let's welcome my new life!
